Wednesday, February 22, 2012 Acer, the No.1 netbook vendor in India and fourth largest PC vendor, today announced the launch of the first netbook to operate on Intel Atom’s next generation Cedar Trail processor – the Aspire One D270 netbook. Powered by the Intel Atom Dual-Core Processor N2600 and fully loaded with Windows 7 starter, this netbook will hit the right spot with consumers. Less than 1” in thickness, the 10.1” LED backlit netbook with its 2 GB RAM internal memory is complemented with a 320GB hard disk capacity and multi-in-one card reader to meet the requirements of one’s storage needs.

Commenting on the company’s netbook portfolio, Mr. S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India, said, “Over the years, our technology ethos drives us to bring compelling innovation first to market and we have maintained that with our latest value proposition, the AO D270. This Cedar Trail beauty is the perfect netbook for work and entertainment as it provides improved performance, HD content playback as well as connectivity options like HDMI port. We believe this new dual core architecture will take the multimedia experience to a superior level when compared to the earlier generation of netbooks especially in multimedia space. We are positive that students and young professionals will be delighted to use this netbook and derive immense benefits.”

Mr. Sandeep Aurora, Director-Marketing, Intel South Asia said, "We are extremely pleased to see Acer bring the latest Intel(r) Atom(tm) processor based platform for Indian consumers. The Intel(r) Atom(tm) Processor N2000 Series brings greater innovation to the category - the power management features and leading edge 32nm process technology provide the potential to enable sleeker netbooks and improve performance and battery life by as much as 20 percent compared to the previous generation. In addition, new responsive features will enable an even better mobile experience for consumers looking for on-the-go internet experience".

Build and Design
Sporting the trademark water droplet ripple on the cover, the Acer Aspire One AOD 270 is exquisitely designed to meet the needs of every young professional and students who prefer to work while they are on the move. The netbook is built to weigh 1.3 kg and is its 1” thickness makes it extremely portable for users to easily slip it into their backpack or even one’s handbag. Additionally its Expresso black color, Aquamarine, Burgundy Red, Seashell White scheme has a very modern look making it a real eye catcher when ones using the gadget.

Display and Speakers
The Acer Aspire One D270 10.1-Inch netbook makes the most of its size and offers users complete 10 inch built-in screen. The netbook also features 2 built-in stereo speakers with High-Definition audio support and MS-Sound compatibility and also has a line out for headphones and external speakers.
Ports and Features

When it comes to ports, Acer has generously offered multiple jacks on the AO D270 netbook for convenient usage. The netbook is loaded with three 2.0 USB ports for users to plug in their external devices. In addition to this, it also features ports for VGA and HDMI for users to hook it up to a monitor. Customers can now enjoy high definition playback with the HDMI connectivity by connecting their netbook to any LED/ LCD TV etc.

The netbook also has a variety of other features such as a built in web cam, Graphics Media Accelerator 3600, WiFi compatibility, Ethernet technology, 2 GB RAM and 320 GB hard drive. A new attraction to this mobile gadget is the addition of an HDMI port that allows users to enjoy High definition entertainment experience. Consumers can enjoy HD playback on D270 that offers up to 8 hours of battery life.

Keyboard and Touch Pad
The ultra compact 10 inch netbook is crafted to perfection to enable users to experience 93% of the full size of the keyboard. The keyboard is spread across making it convenient for users to type at ease. While Aspire One D270 has followed its predecessors in the earlier series, this netbook is fitted with a comfortable keyboard for ease of use and its wide multi-gesture touchpad supports easy browsing.

Mr. Rajendran further added, “We have always had a very strong netbook product portfolio and have constantly revamped our product line up to offer our customers with an increasing suite of options. With a market share of 38.45 % in the netbook category in Q3 ‘11, we have been No.1 for 10 out of the last 13 quarters (since Q3 2008).”

HD playback is the new addition and with HDMI connectivity customers can enjoy that by connecting netbook to any LCD/LED TV etc.. so it should be glorified. Since Intel is not saying much on the processor. We should take a stance and talk about the new dual core architecture which takes the multimedia experience higher by many fold, and that its better than earlier generation of netbook especially in multimedia space.

The netbook that weighs as less as 1.30 kg is bundled with a Bluetooth 4.0+ HS and Wi fi provides connectivity solutions to the mobile consumer.
