Monday, April 23, 2012 Epson, a world leader in digital imaging solutions has launched the first “WorkForce” branded series of printers designed for small to medium business use. The first two models of the new series are the Epson WorkForce WF-7011 colour A3 single function printer, and the Epson WorkForce WF-7511 – which is Epson’s first-ever A3 inkjet all-in-one printer, and the model with the most comprehensive feature list in Epson’s business inkjet printer range.

Designed as superior alternatives to colour laser printers to help small to medium businesses save costs without compromising productivity, Epson’s new WorkForce models achieve an impressive cost per page that is up to 50% lower(1) compared to colour laser printers. The Epson WorkForce printers use Epson’s extra high capacity 143 DURABrite Ultra pigment inks that offer an extremely low 0.75 paise cost per A4 page(2) for monochrome printing and Rs.2.10 per A4 colour page for colour prints. Yet they do not compromise on performance with ISO print speeds of up to 15 ipm (black, A4) and draft speed prints of up to 34ppm (black, A4). The Epson DURABrite Ultra inks also produce smudge, water and fade resistant laser-quality text prints as well as superior photo prints compared to laser printers.

The Epson WorkForce series also boasts of excellent connectivity. In addition to a standard USB 2.0 interface, the printers have built in Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. Furthermore, the Epson WorkForce WF-7511 has a high performance, fax, as well as memory card slots and USB ports which users can print image or PDF files from, or scan items to. The printers can also print photos and documents from Apple iOS or Android devices through Apple Airprint, Epson iPrint; or from cloud services like Google cloud print apps and Evernote.

“The Epson WorkForce A3 printers have been designed to provide our business customers a truly exhaustive set of imaging and printing capabilities with low running cost,” says Mr. Samba Moorthy, Director – Sales & Marketing. “From wireless, low cost, high quality A3 document or photo printing to scanning, to faxing and smartphone or cloud service printing, there is virtually nothing these new printers cannot do.”

Key Features for the Epson WorkForce WF-7511 and WF7011
.Incredibly low cost per page – Using Epson 143 DURABrite Ultra inks, the WorkForce series printers offer up to 50% lower(2) cost per page compared to colour laser printers at 0.75 paise for monochrome pages and Rs.2.10 per for colour pages.

High print performance with Epson Micro Piezo print head with Variable-Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT) – The Epson Micro Piezo print head found in the new Epson WorkForce printers achieves a maximum print resolution of 5760 x 1440 dpi and the VSDT (Variable Sized Droplet Technology) and allows the print head to eject ink droplets in three sizes. These capabilities ensure the greatest detail in text prints and extremely smooth gradations in photographs. The printers also boast of a productivity-boosting ISO print speed of 15 ipm (black, A4) and an extreme 34ppm (black, A4) draft quality print speed.

Quality prints by Epson DURABrite Ultra pigment ink – Perfect for everyday colour printing on plain paper, Epson DURABrite™ Ultra pigment ink is a pigment-based ink that is comprised of insoluble resin-coated pigment particles. Unlike conventional dye-based inks, Epson DURABrite ink pigment particles rest near the surface of conventional paper and are not absorbed into the fibers. As a result, DURABrite Ultra pigment inks have a smaller spot size than dye-based inks and text prints appear sharper. The inks also have a quick-drying formula which makes it ideal for double-sided printing, thereby enabling users to reduce cost. Epson DURABrite Ultra pigment ink has been engineered to withstand water, smudge and offers industry-leading light fastness on plain, matte, and glossy papers; giving prints the ability to last up to 120 years. Environmentally friendly Epson individual cartridges – With individual cartridges, users can choose to replace only ink colours that have run out instead of multicolour, composite ink cartridges. This reduces ink wastage and helps users to maximize cost savings. Furthermore, Epson inkjet cartridges do not have print heads attached, making them more affordable to purchase and easier to recycle after they are depleted.
Comprehensive connectivity (Ethernet / Wi-Fi / fax) – The Epson WorkForce printers have built in Ethernet as well as wireless connectivity, making them easily shared among networked workgroups. The Epson WorkForce WF-7511 all-in-one also features a high performance fax with a 30-page ADF, 60 speed dial, 180 page memory, group fax broadcast and PC fax sending and receiving capability.

Smartphone / tablet and cloud service printing (Epson WorkForce WF-7511 only) – Users of the new Epson WorkForce WF-7511 can receive photos for printing from Apple iOS devices using Apple’s Airprint or photos and documents from Android devices using Epson’s iPrint.

PC-free, print from / scan to memory cards and USB flash drives (Epson WorkForce WF-7511 only) – Image files and PDF documents on storage devices like memory cards and USB flash drives can be printed without the need of a PC from the Epson WorkForce WF-7511 by simply plugging them into the printer. Conversely, scanned items can be saved directly to plugged in memory cards and USB flash drives as image or PDF files.

Up to 70% lower power consumption than laser printers(1) – Consuming up to 20 watts while printing or copying, the new Epson WorkForce printers use up to 70% less power than conventional laser printers and are Energy Star certified for their efficient power use.

High performance duplexer – The Epson WorkForce WF-7011 features a duplexer that helps customers conveniently save money by printing on both sides of the paper.

1.Epson WorkForce printers fitted with 143 inks compared against color laser printers with MRP under Rs.40,000 (incl. tax) in India.

2.Cost-per-print (CPP) was calculated with Epson published yield* based on the ISO/IEC 24711/24712 standard. Estimated ink cartridge price may vary depending on stores and Epson does not guarantee the CPP.

3.Indoor display under glass aging light fastness test for Epson DURABrite™ Ultra ink prints on heavyweight matte paper. Tested by Epson with following parameters:

Light Source: Fluorescent Light
Intensity: 70,00lux
Temperature: 24°C
Humidity: 60%RH
Fade criteria: Pure YMC 30% loss at OD = 1
Display-life calculation:
Total luminance/(500lux x 10hours x 365days = 1year)

In accordance with ISO 24711/24712, actual yields will vary considerably for reasons including images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink colour. A variable amount of ink remains in the cartridges after the “replace cartridge” signal. Part of the ink from the first cartridges is used for priming the printer. Ink is used for both printing and print head maintenance. All inks are used for both black and colour printing.

4.Maximum pages per minute (PPM) are measured after first page with text patterns in draft mode on plain paper.
