Thanks to its use of single-level cell (SLC) flash, the PSD520 not only provides older systems with dramatically improved reliability and performance, but also excellent long-life durability.

Transcend’s PSD520 is built using high quality SLC flash chips, supporting ten times the write endurance over multi-level cell (MLC) technology. Additionally, SLC-based flash generates fewer errors per write cycle, allowing it to bypass the robust error correction required for MLC and access disk data at much greater speeds. As a result, the PSD520 offers reduced start-up time, enhanced system responsiveness, and impressive data transfer rates up to 119MB/s read and 102MB/s write.
Support for Ultra DMA modes 0~6, PIO modes 0~4, and multi-word DMA modes 0~2, allow the PSD520 to directly replace a traditional 2.5" 44-pin PATA hard disk drive or an older IDE-based SSD in a wide range of existing IDE-based platforms. Consequently, notebooks and desktops, as well as industrial equipment and engineering machines, can benefit from the superior performance and stability of the PSD520 without the high cost of upgrading the entire machine.
Containing no moving parts, SSDs can operate efficiently in conditions of extreme temperature, shock, and vibration that would negatively affect performance of mechanical hard drives. To further protect SSD data, built-in Advanced Power Shield technology directly monitors the host power input to prevent data loss in the event of a sudden power outage. In addition, integrated ECC (Error Correction Code) ensures accurate data transfer, while advanced global wear leveling and block management provide consistent long-life operation.
Transcend's PSD520 2.5" PATA SSD is currently available in four capacities: 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, and all are backed by a three-year warranty. To satisfy enterprise and industrial application requirements, the PSD520 is offered in Industrial Temperature versions by request.
