‘CODE WARRIORS’ Unleashes Innovative Mobile Apps

Imagine retrieving a year old text message from your phone, possible? Yes through @vinbox an app that bagged the first prize at recently held ‘CODE WARRIORS’ contest by txtWeb. The two-week long online developer challenge received over 343 apps from more than 250 app developers. Out of the seven short listed developers, Ajay Chawda was declared winner for his app ‘@vinbox’ that creates a virtual inbox and backs-up all messages on web. Parth Lalcheta’s ‘@voiceweb’ that enables users to have txtWeb on voice bagged the second prize and Vaibhav Saini was third for his app ‘@mohitsaini’, which gives first-hand knowledge on how one is recuperating from illness.

‘CODE WARRIORS’ was conducted to encourage developers to come up with innovative SMS based mobile apps. The top 10 developers got an all-expense paid trip with accommodation to showcase their apps to the judges in person Bangalore. Entries were judged by a three-member panel of representatives namely Ms. Deepa Bachu, Director, emerging Market Innovation at Intuit, Mr. Amiya Phatak – COO and co-founder of Zip Dial and Mr. Kiran Jonallagadda – Social Technologist and Founder- HasGeek. The apps were evaluated based on the quality of the idea, integration and overall user experience. The three winners were awarded with prizes which included galaxy tab, home theatre and a digital camera respectively.
Srividhya Ramarathnam, business head for txtWeb India, appreciating participants’ creativity said “This challenge is just one example of our constant endeavor to create and share platforms for innovation. In the coming years we would strive to take this challenge to the next level, to encourage bright minds unleash their best.”
