Solarcentury Launches in Benelux, Teams Up With ProxEnergy

UK: Solarcentury, the UK's most experienced solar energy company, is expanding in Benelux after teaming up with Dutch solar and smart grid development company ProxEnergy. The launch of Solarcentury Netherlands comes a month after Solarcentury appointed the former founder and CEO of ProxEnergy, Frans Van den Heuvel, as its new chief executive and hinted at further international expansion.

ProxEnergy was established in 2011 by Frans Van den Heuvel following his role as CEO of Scheuten Solar. Based in Eindhoven, Solarcentury Netherlands has experience in solar engineering, installation, finance and distribution while ProxEnergy will focus on smart grid services such as 'ProxControl' energy management; energy monitoring, and smart charge solutions. ProxEnergy is currently participating in a real scale local smart grid pilots in the Dutch provinces of Flevoland and Utrecht.
Frans van den Heuvel, CEO, Solarcentury said: "With ProxEnergy and Solarcentury now a joint force, we are one step closer to offering a full range of energy services; from energy creation through to 'smart grid' monitoring and storage. It is hugely exciting to be able to do this as demand for intelligent energy services is increasing as we head to grid parity. Our combined experience is unique to Europe, if not globally.
"Whilst ProxEnergy develops ‘smart grid’ hardware and software, we will continue our EPC role and ramp up the supply of solar photovoltaics across the Benelux region through the expansion of our installers partners. Solarcentury 'Netherlands' has over half a century of solar PV experience in total, comprised of former members of Scheuten Solar. Needless to say, we are all looking forward to the next chapter in Solarcentury’s exciting history."
Paul de Jong, director of ProxEnergy added: "Smart grid offerings are starting to make sense, as solar electricity generation shifts from creating revenue streams to energy services, focused on awareness and savings. Solarcentury managers are now present in the Netherlands, and the Flanders Region of Belgium. The company is the fastest growing energy company in the UK and now operates in France; Italy; The Netherlands and Belgium. Solarcentury is also exploring opportunities in Africa, The Pacific and Balkan regions.
