Monster Employment Index India Rises 3% Year-over-Year

The Monster Employment Index India is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings across India. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.

“The pace of recruitment growth is moderate as employers continue to exhibit a cautious approach owing to the challenginghttp://efytimes.com/admin/useradmin/searchtitle1singlepr.asp economic environment. However, there are pockets of elevated demand that suggest relatively favorable conditions in occupations like arts, healthcare, and sales,” said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/ Middle- East/ South East Asia).
Industry Year-over-year Trends: 14 of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Monster Employment Index registered expansion in recruitment activity between June’11 and June’12.
· Agro based industries (up 22 percent) exhibited the highest annual growth among sectors
· Travel and Tourism (up 19 percent), Healthcare, Bio Technology & Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals (up 18 percent), sectors maintained an upward trend in online recruitment activity between June ’11 and June’12
· Government/PSU/Defence (down 25 percent) showed steepest annual decline
Occupation Year-over-year Trends: Online demand improved in seven of 13 occupational groups monitored by the Monster Employment Index between May’11 and May’12.
· Arts/Creative (up 40 percent) followed by Healthcare (up 11 percent) charted the most substantial annual gains amongst the occupational groups
· Software, Hardware, Telecom (down six percent) and Engineering/Production (down six percent) exhibited the steepest annual decline among occupation groups
Geographic year-over-year Trends: Online recruitment activity was up on the year for eight of the 13 locations monitored by the index.
· Coimbatore (up 26 percent) followed by Kochi (up 19 percent) led all cities in annual growth
· Among major metro-areas, Bangalore (up eight percent) and Mumbai (up seven percent) registered positive annual growth
· Ahmedabad (down 11 percent) was amidst the slowest growth markets
