Cisco Networking Academy Wins World Education Summit Award 2012

Cisco today announced that the Networking Academy (NetAcad) Program had been conferred the prestigious World Education Summit Award 2012 for the best innovation in global collaborative learning in the higher education space in India. The award was presented at a high profile awards ceremony in New Delhi, recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Bina Raj-Debur, Regional Head, Social Innovation Group, Cisco India & South Asia, said, “It’s an honor to be recognized by WES for our initiatives in higher education. Networking Academy has had a long-standing commitment to help students acquire the ICT skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century. The award is a tribute to NetAcad’s community of partners who have made our vision of combining human and technology networks to multiply impact, a reality.”
The nominated projects were screened and posted online for the public to vote via social media platforms. NetAcad was chosen through a nationwide public poll as well as a 13-member jury comprising distinguished academicians and bureaucrats.
The awards event was attended by ministerial delegates and representatives from the corporate sector, in addition to venture capitalists, equity investors, policy makers and thought leaders from over 600 educational institutions in India and overseas.
The WES award comes on the back of the eINDIA Award bestowed upon Networking Academy in December 2011 for the Best ICT Enabled Skills Development Project.
