A number of Mini Club Enerjis’ have been actively organizing various events recently across the city of Mumbai. Continuing with this spirit, Mini Club Enerji from Rizvi Springfield High School, Bandra West organized a grand rally spreading the message of energy conservation and Mini Club Enerji from St. Xavier’s School, Goregaon East organized a unique ‘Cyclothon’ spreading the message on fuel conservation.
The Rally organized by Rizvi Springfield High School saw more than 450 students participating in an enthusiastic manner. The students devotedly prepared posters, banners and placards with paintings depicting various ways to conserve the environment. They also prepared unique banners with their school name prominently displayed. The students marched on an hour long rally shouting various slogans and spreading the message of conservation of natural resources through their own posters, placards and distribution of handouts.
In another event over 80 students of St. Xavier’s School, Goregaon East donned their cycles and rode through a circuit in Goregaon stressing the importance of fuel conservation. With fuel prices on a rise and fuel availability a cause of concern, students of Club Enerji felt the dire need to spread the message on Fuel conservation.
Speaking on these initiatives, Mr. Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power said, “We are happy that Club Enerji is playing a vital role in aiding young minds who have been the core influencers in advocating energy and resource conservation. The enthusiasm, involvement and dedication of the school students is remarkable and has contributed towards making this a national movement. We would also like to thank the teachers and principals of the schools in extending their support towards these initiatives.”
Club Enerji has covered 400 schools and sensitized more than 2.8 million (28 lakh) citizens across the nation and over 3 million units of electricity have been saved till date. The Club is proud to have more than 19095 Energy Champions and 32257 Energy Ambassadors this year who are spreading the mantra of energy conservation among people across various age and income groups. Today, there are more than 800 mini clubs across the country, which are run by the school children with the aim to stop wastage of electricity.
The Resource conservation module lays emphasis on of course saving electricity along with saving fuel, water, paper, trees and advocating judicious waste management practices, reducing plastic consumption. Every year keeping power conservation as a key pillar, Club Enerji will focus on one other resource to combat climate change. This year Fuel Conservation will be included in this module and it’s only apt when fossil fuels are becoming scarce and expensive with each passing day.
The Moral and Civic Module focuses on instilling various values like integrity, discipline, gender equality, respect for public property etc to make the children better and responsible citizens of tomorrow.
Club Enerji encourages students to form their own mini energy clubs in their school and societies, to propagate the message of energy conservation to citizens and society at large. Club Enerji also has various nationwide engagement programmes like Energy-Q (Quiz competition), Spark of Life (Poster making contest), Every Watt Counts (Essay Competition), newsletter, and an exciting website. With informative and interesting publications like Energy Book - ‘Watts up with Energy?’, activity booklets, audio-visuals and anthem.
