Wednesday, May 08, 2013 There has been a lot of buzz surrounding smartphones running Linux OS. And, finally there seems to be something concrete coming out of the box. Designer Suman Chatterjee thought of a Samsung smartphone running Ubuntu OS on it. Well, it is here and the name is Samsung U1000.

Ubuntu touch, Samsung Galaxy S4, Ubuntu Samsung, Linux, Samsung U1000

The most interesting part about this device is that it has almost the same specifications as the Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4. Also, it comes with a very unique and interesting user interface. The design varies a bit in comparison to the device in the market and comes with a metal stripe camera area. To your surprise, from the side it resembles the iPhone. All in all, it looks like a pretty unique device.

The device has no physical buttons on the front, which means it basically works on gestures. As a platform, Ubuntu Touch has managed to impress many and has generated a lot of interest among those who want to tweak their handset. It almost makes sense since Samsung’s Activ S (the S3 lookalike) runs Windows and now this will be a Samsung Galaxy S4 lookalike running Ubuntu.

While Samsung Galaxy S4 surely has powerful specs, it design has been criticised a bit in the market. Let us know what you feel about having a Samsung phone running Ubuntu...
