Tuesday, December 17, 2013 IT skills have been useful to many. Whether it is to find employment or be your own computer engineer, a little bit of knowledge in different aspects of this industry will not go waste in today’s world. Nevertheless, gainful employment is what we are all looking for. So here are fifteen IT certifications that will help you in the competitive technology industry.

CWNP, ISACA, Red Hat, RHCE, CWNE, CRISC, GIAC, GCFA, HP, MASE, Master ASE, Oracle, Linux, Windows, tech news, news

1. Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC): This certification deals with risk management in the IT industry. It is obtained from ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association).

2. CWNP Certified Wireless Security Professional: This is a wireless network security certification that has been quite popular for some time now. There is also the advanced Certified Wireless Network Expert (CWNE) certification that you can get. Both of this can add a lot to your market value.

3. GIAC Certified Forensics Analyst (GCFA): You can get this certification from the GIAC. The certification covers people who are trained in information security, incident response and computer forensics for Windows and Linux operating systems only.

4. GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA): This certification can increase your premium pay by 37.5 per cent and reports say that its demand will increase in the future. It is for individuals trained in intrusion detection systems and network traffic and log files analysis.

5. HP/Accredited Solutions Certification: This one offers a number of different certifications, including HP/Accredited Solutions Expert (ASE - all), HP/Master Accredited Solutions Expert (MASE - all), HP/Master Accredited Systems Engineer (Master ASE). The vendor for this one is ICS2, the official organisation that maintains and administers CISSP certifications.

6. Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA): Even though Microsoft has announced that the certification would be stopped post 31 December, its value is reportedly growing still.

7. Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (all): This elite certification from Microsoft is also being retired like the one above and from the same date. Again, the value for this is reportedly still growing.

8. Open Group Certified Architect (Open CA): This is a vendor neutral certification, which focuses on IT certification for the Open Group website. The premium pay of an employee reportedly increases by 16.7 per cent with this.

9. Open Group Master Architect: This is level two of the above certification and is vendor neutral like its predecessor. The company is reportedly planning to include more business and enterprise certifications for both of these soon.

10. Oracle Certified Expert MySQL 5.1 Cluster Database Administrator: Remember the MySQL Cluster Database Administrator (SCMCDBA) certification? This is the same one, and it is for IT professionals who are experts at designing, administrating, deploying, configuring and maintaining databases, which use the MySQL cluster technology. The certification comes from Oracle.

11. Oracle Certified Professional MySQL 5 Database Administrator: If you are an IT professional who has mastered every Oracle server related issue, then this is the certification for you.

12. Oracle Database Administrator Certified Master: This certification has reportedly been rising by 8.3 per cent, in terms of the demand and value, in the last 12 months. Get this one from Oracle.

13. PMI Risk Management Professional: This one is for capable risk management professionals. The vendor for this certification is PMI and they have been said to ensure that the professionals are trained in the best international practices.

14. Program Management Professional (PgMP): This is another certification from PMI and it is vendor-neutral. It has apparently been growing in terms of premium pay over the last year.

15. Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA): This is the highest level of certification that you can get from Red Hat. It includes everything from deployment to systems management in larger enterprise environments.

All these certifications have prerequisites that you can find quite easily on the respective organisations’ websites. Getting these allow an IT professional to put marketable points to their resumes, which can boost their market value considerably.
