Digital technology leader, Samsung India today announced its plans for the festival season, which include new, innovative product launches as well as the ‘Samsung Smart Utsav’ promotion offers. Just ahead of the festival season, the Company has announced the launch of new innovative LED and LCD Flat Panels TVs, new 21” Slim TV model, Frost Free refrigerator models – Series 54 and 59 with convertible freezer section and its new top loading fully automatic washing machine range with ‘Wobble technology’.
The market leader in Flat Panel TVs, both in India and globally, Samsung is looking at Flat Panel televisions, including its Smart TV range and its Home Appliance product ranges to drive the growth during this festival period.
Samsung which is looking at creating the market for Smart TVs in India is the first in the industry to launch the 3D Video-on-Demand service free for existing and new owners of Samsung Smart TVs. The introduction of 3D VOD service is in line with Samsung’s strategy to offer rich content for its Smart TV users. As a start, a total of more than 30 3D clips have been made available which includes movie trailers, music videos, children’s classics, as well as lifestyle videos and documentaries.
As part of Samsung’s collaboration with Dreamworks, the service will feature exclusive 3D movie trailers from How to train your dragon, Shrek4, Megamind and Kung Fu Panda 2 as well as music videos from popular bands - Girls Generation, Super Junior and BoA. Samsung Smart TV consumers will be able to access the 3D VOD content at no additional cost by downloading the ‘Explore 3D’ application available on Samsung Apps. Samsung expects to increase the 3D VOD content to 100 by the end of 2011.

Samsung’s use of active 3D technology provides the best and brightest picture quality in Full HD, enhanced motion clarity and freedom in choice of viewing angles for a truly immersive 3D experience. Mr. Raj Kumar Rishi, VP-AV Business, Samsung India said, “Samsung has explored a number ways to allow consumers to enjoy 3D content at the touch of a button. This is why we have launched the 3D VOD service.
In order to better meet the needs of our discerning consumers, we will continue to expand content provided through 3D VOD service as well as offer India relevant content on the Application Store for Samsung TVs.” Available across D6600, D7000 and D8000 LED series as well as the D8000 Plasma series, Samsung Smart TVs allow you to easily search for movies, TV shows, browse the web, explore Samsung apps, chat with friends and find many other types of new interactive TV content.
“We are looking at Samsung’s Smart TV becoming the uniting, dominant piece of technology in the home that connects, enables and entertains the entire family. To bring alive the Smart TV experience for our Indian consumers, we have gone in for content tie ups with major content developers like Times Music, NDTV Convergence and Money Control. We are working on other similar content tie ups in India in the genres of Music, Information, Video, Lifestyle, Etc. to make the consumers’ experience richer,” added Mr. Rishi.
Samsung today announced the launch of new television models, both in the Flat Panel and the Flat TV range, for the festival season. Providing the winning combination of style and innovative technology for a complete entertainment experience, Samsung introduced two new models – 22” and 26” LED TV that provide an elegant blend of practicality and performance with features such as has Clear Motion Rate 50, the unique HyperRealEngine, Wide Color Enhancer Plus and SRS Theatre Sound. The addition of these TVs to the range expands the Samsung FPTV portfolio to a total of 45 models across three platforms of LED, LCD and PDP TVs. Varying from screen sizes ranging from 19’ - 64’, the Samsung Flat Panel TV range is priced between Rs. 12,500/- to Rs. 400,000/-. Samsung today announced the launch of a new 21” Slim TV at Rs. 7,750, which provide the ultimate combination of innovative design, enhanced performance and superior value.
The Digital Still Camera category has also added to its product line-up with the introduction of MV800, world's first compact camera with a flip-up screen for easy shooting. Priced at Rs. 15,990, the MV800 is a 16.2 MP compact camera, packed features that will help you shoot great self-portraits with its folding touch screen and phone-style software that makes it extremely easy to use. The Samsung camera range comprising of 18 models is priced between Rs.5,490 to Rs. 19,990.
Apart from the new launches in the AV portfolio, Samsung is also offering consumers an enhanced Home Appliance line up comprising of the newly launched 5 Star rated Refrigerators, “Wobble” Top Loading Washing Machines and 21L Microwave Oven. Samsung has strengthened its Frost Free refrigerator range by launching two new models that incorporate the unique feature of a convertible freezer section. The first of its kind in the industry, Samsung Series 54 and 59 available in 496L and 447L respectively, allow consumers to easily convert the freezer into fridge when they need more fridge space, giving modern households unprecedented flexibility. Further, the user can simply turn off the freezer, when on vacation or when the freezer is empty, thus saving on electricity. Stylish and energy efficient, these models have been priced at Rs.50,000 and Rs. 55,000.
In washing machines, Samsung has unveiled its new Top Loading Washing Machine range with Wobble Technology that ensures 3D Dynamic water currents for a gentle, tangle free and energy efficient wash. Customized for the requirements of Indian consumers, these washing machines incorporate special features such as Smart-Rinse, Aqua Preserve and Sari Course in addition to Wobble Technology. The new washing machines with Wobble Technology comprises of seven variants with capacities ranging from 6.2 kg to 7.5 kg priced between Rs.15,790 to Rs. 22,490. Samsung’s complete Washing Machine lineup includes 52 model - 16 Fully Automatic Front loading, 26 Fully Automatic Top Loading and 10 Semi Automatic washing machines with prices from Rs.8,750 to Rs.49,790.
In keeping with the festival spirit, Samsung announced an exciting consumer promotion offer on a pan India basis for the festival season. Titled ‘Samsung Smart Utsav’, the Promotion offers consumers the most value from their festive shopping since the purchase of Samsung product ensures an assured gift to the consumer as well as a chance to win the Samsung Smart Home bumper prize.
