Wednesday, May 16, 2012: BSNL customers can now save substantially on their data charges. BSNL is going to slash 3G and 2G data usage charges for additional usage beyond free usage by 75 per cent from 4 paise/10 KB to 1paisa/10 KB, according to a Telguru exclusive. The existing data charge is 4 paise/10KB for both 3G and 2G customers. This is for the postpaid customers.
Once the new rates get effective, BSNL customers will have to pay only 1paisa/10 KB for any additional data usage beyond the limited free usage or as per their subscribed plan. The new rates will be effective from 1 June. To add to the delight of customers, these new rates will be applicable on roaming as well.

According to Telguru, the data rate cut details are as below:

- Additional data usage charges for 2G and 3G postpaid data plans revised from 4 p/10 KB to 1p/10KB.
- Data usage charges for 2G and 3G voice plan customers not using any data plan revised from 4 p/10 KB to 1p/10KB.
- The 1 p/10KB rates will be applicable in both local as well as roaming networks.
