The company says the latest version running Ice Cream Sandwich will be out before the release of the Windows 8 tablet.

Friday, May 18, 2012: ASUS came out with its much-hyped Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet in March this year. And now, it is all set to release the 3G version of the tablet soon. The Transfomer Prime (without 3G) is priced at Rs 49,990 and boasts of NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. It was the first tablet to be powered by a 1.3 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The 25.7-cm (10.1-inch) Transformer Prime runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Talking about the market response to the Transformer Prime tablet, Unaez Quraishi, director--sales and distribution, ASUS India, said: “The response has been substantial. In terms of numbers, it is not that huge but we wanted to show the product to the masses and it has worked. We have enquiries coming in again for the product.” He informed that ASUS will be coming out with a 3G version of the Transformer Prime soon. “We will get a 3G version of Transformer Prime too. I can't disclose the exact pricing and launch date as we are in the production stage right now,” said Quraishi.
He did mention that the 3G version of the Transformer Prime will be out before ASUS comes out with its Windows 8 tablet. “Windows 8 tablet will be out most probably by November or December as per Microsoft but we will be coming out with the 3G version of the Transformer Prime before that for sure,” he said.

The 3G version should be priced much about the same as its predecessor and run the Android 4.0 ICS OS as it will be an improved version of the first model.
