Monday, May 21, 2012: Edge-Core Networks Corporation is a professional networking solution provider offering a complete range of enterprise-level and service provider/carrier Ethernet networking equipment and services to customers and partners around the world, today announced the launch of the ECS5510-24S, a 24-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ Layer 2 switch, adding another member to its family of 10 Gigabit Ethernet data center switches.

The switch offers next-generation data center design including advanced features such as 802.1Qbb Priority-based Flow Control (PFC) for delay-sensitive services, 802.1Qau Quantized Congestion Notification (QCN), and 802.1Qaz Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS) to support incipient data center Ethernet standards. The ECS5510-24S is perfectly positioned for both medium and large data centers and Converged Enhanced Ethernet (CEE) applications such as Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) solutions for LAN, SAN, and IPC networks. The switch supports ACL and FIP snooping, redundant power supplies, and hot-swappable fan trays, enabling seamless 10 Gigabit Ethernet traffic aggregation and FCoE storage interconnection

“The high-density ECS5510-24S is designed to deliver the superior performance, speed, and bandwidth data centers require in both today and tomorrow’s networks,” explained Daniel Konnoff, Technical Marketing Manager. “Edge-Core Networks is aggressively expanding into a number of promising product areas, including data centers and 10GB switching, and this switch is the realization of our efforts.”

“Besides support for a full complement of Layer 2 features including Q-in-Q, GVRP, IGMP, port/MAC/protocol-based VLANs, Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR), link aggregation, and static trunking, the ECS5510-24S offers user-friendly design innovations like front panel port configuration and front-to-back cooling, “ added Mr. Konnoff. “We feel the switch is the perfect choice for customers that need to interconnect medium numbers of 10 gigabit Ethernet links from servers.”

Key Features and Benefits:
 High Energy Efficiency
The ECS5510-24S is easy on the environment as well as your energy budget. At less than 3 Watts per port, the switch is simply without peer. The level of performance is the result of an uncompromising design philosophy utilizing a state-of-the-art packet processor, power supplies with greater than 90% efficiency, variable speed fans, and an advanced physical layer design.

 Data Center-Ready
With Ethernet fast becoming the de facto standard for the interconnection of data center devices, the ECS5510-24S is designed to overcome the challenges of a high traffic-load environment, ensuring that traffic flows smoothly through the network without delay. The data center-ready switch supports jumbo frames up to 10K bytes, 802.1Qau Quantized Congestion Notification (QCN), 802.1Qbb Priority Flow Control (PFC), 802.1Qaz Enhanced Transmission Selection (ETS), FCoE ACL and FIP snooping.

 Continuous Availability
To ensure longevity, the ECS5510-24S employs data center-friendly front-to-back cooling, dissipating unwanted heat efficiently and effectively. In addition, dual hot-swappable power supplies enable the system to continue operation even in the event of a single power failure.

 Ease and Flexibility of Management
Support SNMP-based management and offer a user-friendly web interface and a command line interface (CLI) for the advanced user.
