Cisco Kills Android-Powered Cius Tablet
Saturday, May 26, 2012:
Cisco has decided to discontinue its Android-based Cius tablet. OJ Winge, senior vice president for the telepresence technology group, Cisco says that the company "will no longer invest in the Cisco Cius tablet form factor, and no further enhancements will be made to the current Cius endpoint beyond what's available today."
First announced in June 2010, the 17.8-cm (7-inch) tablet runs Android 2.2.2 on an Intel Atom processor. It was billed as a "Mobile Collaboration Endpoint". Earlier in 2012, Cisco said it was working on larger and smaller versions of the $750 tablet. However, the company didn't come out with any modified devices. |
