Google plans to launch its Nexus tablet in June at its I/O conference.
Saturday, May 26, 2012:
After a round of delays, Google is finally launching its much talked about Nexus tablet on June 27 at its I/O conference. The tablet was to be launched in May but due to some design and cost bugs, it got delayed to the month of June. Supposedly, it is going to be a 17.8-cm (7-inch) tablet and will be priced under $200. According to TechnoBuffalo reports, the tablet will be made by ASUS in place of Samsung or Motorola as thought earlier.
There are rumours that Google's first tablet will come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 or Jelly Bean instead of the ICS upgrade as Motorola XOOM tablet already has one. So, we may expect Google announcing a Jelly Bean tablet sometime in June or July.
Also, the Nexus tablet will be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 3 SoC. Recently, Nvidia launched their 'Kai Platform' for Tegra 3-based tablets running Android 4.0 and talked about changing the way one thinks about cheap Android tablets. They focused on the fact that it's possible to make a tablet priced below $200, without having to compromise on quality and performance.
Besides this, Google may talk about its next Nexus smartphone at the conference and rumours suggest that it may bring a range of five Nexus branded phones. Also, Google may opt for multiple manufactures and if that's true, we can count Samsung and Motorola as two of them.
