Friday, June 08, 2012: Mini computers have become the new rage in the technology world. After FXI Cotton Candy and Raspberry Pi, here is a new entrant in the market called Pocket TV. This innovation from Infitec is an Android 4.0 Micro-Computer which promises to make any TV smarter. The device is available for pre-order for just $99. Pocket TV uses a new ‘HDMI Dongle’ set top box form factor. It brings Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich experience to your television. It features a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and offers 4GB of internal memory. It comes with 512 MB of RAM and a microSD port supporting cards with size of up to 32 GB. A mini USB port given in the mini-computer is for devices including webcams and keyboards.
After you plug it in an HDMI jack, you can control it with a standard infrared remote, which is shipped with the device. You can pair it with your Android smartphone and even an iPhone and control it from there. Infitec has also provided an upgraded ‘Air Remote’ to control the device. This remote is a full QWERTY chiclet keyboard. The company has also given a Wii-like motion mouse control.

According to the kickstarter page (where the device is available for preorder), you will get the Pocket TV USB stick and its IR Remote. This remote will allow you to control everything from gaming, Netflix, Web browsing and video playback. If you order a $199 kit, you will be offered an improved Air Remote.
