Comviva, the global leader in providing mobile solutions beyond VAS, today announced that it has been honored with the prestigious Asia Communications Award 2012 for its mobiquity® mTicketing services to Bangladesh Railways in collaboration with two leading network operators. The awards were presented at the award ceremony held in Singapore in the presence of leaders from Asian telecom industry on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
In Bangladesh, mTicketing represents an approximate 30% of total mCommerce transactions and Comviva’s mobiquity® mTicketing service, processes an approximate 1 million mTicketing transactions annually.
Comviva’s mobiquity® mTicketing solution allows consumers to quickly and conveniently book and buy intercity train tickets using their mobile phone. Users can either purchase the ticket using their stored wallet account or over the counter at an authorized operator outlet. On buying the ticket, the customer receives an e-ticket number via SMS, which can be redeemed for a physical ticket at the railway station or an authorized retail outlet.

In Bangladesh 53.8 million people travel by railways every year and our mobiquity® mTicketing solution offers a quick and convenient train ticket booking services to these customers who use to spend around 4 hours to book a train ticket earlier.”
For the second consecutive year, Comviva has been acknowledged for its innovative contribution. Last year, Comviva won the awards for its mobile wallet solution deployed by Banglalink, Dynamic Discounting Solution and Managed VAS Services.
The Asia Communications Awards seek to recognize the achievements of Asian telecom companies and individuals responsible for the innovations, achievements and new services that are helping to build tomorrows industry.
