Tuesday, June 26, 2012: MOSCOW, RUSSIA: SPIRIT DSP announced that Russia's national telecom operator, Rostelecom, has licensed the company's VideoMost.com software to provide OTT (Over-the-Top) multipoint videoconferencing service to its corporate customers under its own brand.

Rostelecom provides integrated telecom solutions including local and intra-zone telephone services, international long-distance and domestic long-distance services, mobile voice, data, broadband Internet access and pay-TV services to 43 million subscribers across Russia, and has a nation-wide LTE license.

"Implementation of our new service was determined by increasing demand for cloud-based videoconferencing," said a representative from Rostelecom. "One of the main advantages of this service is its ability to provide HD video quality while allowing our clients to save on purchasing and maintenance of expensive videoconferencing solutions, since the corporate videoconferencing system organization and technical support will be carried out using a service platform at Rostelecom's data center."

"By white-labeling VideoMost web-video-conferencing software, Rostelecom can generate new revenue and increase customer satisfaction with their own-branded web-videoconferencing offering, as well as lower operating costs and reduce churn," said SPIRIT's Head of Telco Relationships, Alex Zakharov. "Through licensing the VideoMost software and building its own videoconferencing service that is integrated with its billing system, Rostelecom can now effectively and aggressively compete against OTT VVoIP providers." Rostelecom's web-videoconferencing service is priced at $20 per month for unlimited use.

VideoMost is an award-winning massively multipoint web-based videoconferencing software-only product, enabling telecom carriers, service/SaaS providers and enterprises to deliver a self-branded videoconferencing service from the cloud or with on-premise installation. The software is powered by SPIRIT's TeamSpirit Conferencing Platform (both server- and client-side), which embraces scalable H.264SVC and VP8 video codecs and SPIRIT's HD-quality IP-MRTM wideband voice codec (IETF RFC 6262) that automatically adapts video quality to bandwidth and processor power available.

VideoMost delivers up to 30 fps and 720p HD-quality calling for each participant in a conference while requiring only 512 kbps of bandwidth. The VideoMost software server supports an unprecedented 1000 concurrent video channels per single $4,000 PC hardware server, dramatically cutting down service providers' costs for video-conferencing infrastructure.

VideoMost is uniquely universal, requiring no special hardware equipment to participate (just internet access, a webcam, a mic or headset) and no registration, allowing participants anywhere to start a video conference instantly on their PCs, Macs and iPads. It also includes corporate controls with single authorization and corporate contact lists; desktop/file sharing, recording and messaging capabilities; LDAP support, integration with emails and calendars and legacy videoconferencing endpoints (like Polycom); presence and more functions.
